Damion J. Valletta, D.O.

A native of San Diego, CA, Dr. Valletta completed his undergraduate work at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. While at Pepperdine, he completed research in the Department of Sports Medicine prior to graduating with honors with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sports Medicine. He received his doctoral degree in osteopathic medicine from Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa and subsequently completed an internship and orthopaedic surgical residency at St Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio. He then completed an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while concurrently performing research in sport-related shoulder and knee disorders.

Dr.Valletta travels internationally as a team physician for the United States Soccer Federation and serves as a team physician for local high schools and universities in the San Diego area. Dr. Valletta is the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine consultant to the Sporting Club and lectures regularly to the Personal Training staff on topics in the field of sports medicine and injury prevention.

Ms. Tistia Gaston obtained her MPAS from the University of Florida in 2002. She has over 20 years experience as a Physician Assistant, 18 years in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. She has worked with Dr. Valletta for the past 5 years and assists him in all surgical cases.

Sara Williamson, MS, ATC

A native of New Jersey, Sara moved to sunny San Diego after completing her Bachelors and Masters of Science degrees with honors in kinesiology and health education, respectively. As a newly certified athletic trainer, she accepted a position as the Head Athletic Trainer/Health Teacher at Escondido High School followed by an Assistant Athletic Training position at San Diego State University where she worked with Women’s Basketball as well as the Track & Field/Cross Country teams for several years.

She joined Valletta Orthopedics as the Clinical Supervisor in 2013 after taking a leave of absence to have children. She remains active in the state, district and national athletic training organizations and enjoys going to her family’s sporting events in her free time.
